Ash waste nomads part 2

These are the rest of my ash waste nomads. To see the first part of this post, use this link. I got another box of troops to make some conversions of characters and crew for my team. Both to add some more bugs and to make proxies for the official resin models as I found them both too expensive (the conversion of my Stormcaller is even more expensive tho so not sure what I was thinking there) and as I prefer the plastic to resin both when it comes to painting and durability.

Ash waste seekers

It all started out with me wanting to do a unit of flying snipers as I really like the Sylvaneth revenant seeker mounts. I used the riders from the Dustback helamites to make my riders. It took some carving to get the seekers legs off and then I had to fill out some gaps with greenstuff but they fit surprisingly well. I added the flags from the Dustbacks to cover up the saddle-shaped holes at the back of their robes.

These will need some kind of special rules to be used in play, so far I have no stats but will update when I do.

Ash waste Stormcaller

My customised Stormcaller is a Dustback helamite rider with some added junk. He is sitting on the Belthanos mount from the Sylvaneth range. It is vastly bigger than the actual Stormcaller but I really loved this big bug mount and I think it’s cool enough to be excused. Might need some rules tweak as the base is much larger than it should be.

Dustback Helamites

Regular unit. As I used one of the riders for the Stormcaller I had to replace it with one on foot. I gave it a binocular so that it can keep an eye out for enemies in the wastes.

Ash waste Beetle

I opted for a beetle from the Alarielle kit to serve as transport for the unit. I imagine it to be rather slow so it’s probably more of a necessary means for moving goods than a convenient form of transport.
The beetle has got three crew on top, made out of ash waste nomads. And also some important wastes supplies, complete with a home-brew kitchen.

I used troops from the nomads box to make handlers and crew for the big beetle. The handlers weapons are made out of nomad guns, the Attilan Rough Rider spears and some wire to make them look like some sort of tase guns.

Asun’ghar and Grapplehawk

A home-made version of Asun’ghar and her pet. Asun’ghar herlself is based on Amallyn Shadowguide, the Eldar ranger from Blackstone Fortress. Arms and details from the nomad kit, twigs from dryad arms and some wire.
The Grapplehawk is made out of an old falcon from Warhammer Fantasy Battles, horns from a Tzangor, a piece of the Mirror of Absorption from the Slaanesh range and some 3D printed wings a friend gave me. I’m happy with the result, it kinda looks like a dragonfly and I think it suits the theme of the army very well.
There is a video of the Grapplehawk replacement on my Instagram @Valadys.

Herder and Duneskuttler

This is my version of the Herder and Duneskuttler. His weapon is from the Attilan rough riders to give him something that at least slightly resembles the originals weapon. I used the Cursemites from Gellerpox to give him a bunch of “Dustmites” instead of a Duneskuttler. Might come back to this and build a version of the skuttler later if I can find somet suitable parts.

Ash waste Trader

I had one nomad left after previous conversions so I made a trader. No idea how or when to use it, its just a bonus ad for the team.
